Radio 2-Way Communications
- Citizen Band (CB) radios used to be a popular form of communications, but the frequency range is very congested making them very ineffective.
- Family Radio Service (FRS) has taken over the short-range communications needs that CBs used to fulfill. These walkie-talkie type radios are only good for short-range line-of-site under a mile.
- Amateur “Ham” Radio continues to be one of the most versatile forms of communications for the public. Licenses are readily available, some of them no longer requiring Morse Code proficiency, and only a reasonable working knowledge of rules and regulations along with minor elements of electronic theory are necessary.
